Sansho food and drinks unites chef-owner Paul Day’s inventive approach to pan-Asian cuisine with a commitment to supporting local farmers raise happy animals and years of experience in some of the world’s top Asian restaurants. Sansho opened in 2011 as Prague’s first whole animal restaurant.

We serve seasonal Asian dishes combining fresh local produce, the best of Prague’s Vietnamese markets, and quality meat from slow-grown happy animals. Everything is served family-style to be shared with your friends at the table.

WHOLE ANIMAL

We take pride in using meat only from animals raised at farms we know around the Czech Republic. We are a whole animal restaurant that uses everything from the nose to the tail. Our Asian produce is sourced from the vibrant markets serving the large Vietnamese community in the Czech capital. 

Dinner consists of a tasting menu of six courses plus optional dessert. Our staff will help you select a menu based on seasonality and any intolerance or food allergies. Let us know if you prefer a meat, fish or vegetarian menu. Price ranges from 900 CZK to 1200 CZK per person (based on your choices and preferences).

Lunch is served a la carte according to what we have on offer each day.
We are happy to create a small tasting menu to share with your friends if you would like a family-style experience.

ABOUT
PAUL



Chef-owner Paul Day hails from Stafford, UK, where he trained as a butcher and ran his own shop. He sold the shop at age 20 to move to London, where he worked in Chinatown refining his Asian butchery and culinary techniques. In his life as a chef, Paul rose through the ranks in the kitchens of world-renowned Asian restaurants in London with time spent in New York, Tokyo, Istanbul, India, Spain and Italy.

MEAT SOCIETY



Paul’s background as a butcher was formative to his starting The Real Meat Society, Sansho’s sister butcher shop with two branches in Prague. It was the first Czech butcher shop to promote heritage and local breeds, to follow the concept of slow growth that fosters sustainability and happy animals, and to adhere to a strict process of dry aging to get the most flavour out of each cut. Just across the square from Sansho, Maso a Kobliha (Meat and Doughnut) is the home of fun takes on classic English pub food in a relaxed setting with an emphasis on local craft beers and liquors. OFF ROAD CATERING & BBQ 

Organising a private party or corporate event? Treat your friends or colleagues to a funky street food experience, all served up from a flaming charcoal grill. With our fully equipped, custom Land Rover Defender, we can whip up a menu of flavourful bite-size creations pretty much anywhere. And if your event calls for something bigger, we can do slow-roasted BBQ, too. 

Everything we make is from top quality, slow-grown, dry-aged heritage meat from our The Real Meat Society butcher shop. We will work with you to create a menu that suits your audience and preferences. Minimum event size is generally 40 people.
